Between June 10th and June 14th, 2009, in Albena resort Bulgarian Workers' Federation "Labor, sport and health", with the active assistance and help of CITUB, State Agency for Youth and Sports and other public and state bodies and institutions, organized and carried out theSeventh International Workers' Sport Festival under the patronage of Ms. Vessela Lecheva - the Chairwoman of State Agency for Youth and Sports and Dr. Zhelyazko Hristov - President of CITUB and President of the Organizing Commiittee.
The Festival gathered together 87 workers' sport clubs with 1800 participants from Republic of Bulgaria and 15 countries of Europe, Asia, America and Africa, namely Austria, Italy, Romania, Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo, Russia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Belarus, China, israel, Tunisia, Mexico and Brazil. Competitions were held in 17 kinds of sports: mini football, beach football, volleyball, beach volleyball, bowling, tennis, table tennis, chess, bridge, basketball (streetball), darts, track and field athletics, swimming, tug of war, shooting with air gun, petanque and orientation.
In the complex ranking by nations the first place was taken by the team of NPP Kozloduy with 130 points, followed by ATOM SPORT (Russia) with 91 points and Beograd Elektrane (Serbia) with 49 points.
In the cmplex ranking for the Cup of CITUB the first place was taken by the team of Maritza east Mine with 56 points, followed by Electric Power System Operator with 47 points and Maritsa East 2 TPP with 41 points.
Mr. Anton Popov - Secretary General of the State Agency for Youth and Sport, who witnessed the opening and the awarding ceremonies, expressed high opinion of the good organization and results of the Festival.
